Boy, 16, appears in court over killing of Lianne Gordon in Hackney

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in Hackney last week and the attempted murder of two others.

The teenager, who has not been named, is also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

At a hearing at Barkingside magistrates court, he spoke to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He nodded to his parents, who were present.

The judge, Susan Holdham, referred the case to the Old Bailey, the central criminal court, on 13 December. She said the teenager would be remanded in youth detention until this date.

Lianne Gordon, 42, died at the scene after police were called to the incident on Vine Close, Clapton, in the early evening on 5 December.

A 20-year-old man and another boy, 16, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The teenager was arrested and detained in the early hours of the morning of 8 December and remained in custody, the Metropolitan police said.

Police have not said whether Gordon was supposed to be the target, but it is believed police are investigating the possibility that her killing was not intentional.

The three people shot at were believed to have known to one another but were not related, police said.
