Boris Johnson 'quits London, sells house for way under asking price and buys massive mansion in Cotswolds'

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson and wife Carrie are understood to have sold their London home for £200,000 under the asking price as they prepare to buy a nine-bedroom country mansion in the Cotswolds instead.

The couple previously listed their four-bedroom Victorian terrace home in Camberwell for £1.6 million in the summer, but official documents show they had to let it go for considerably less as it has now sold for £1.4million, the Mirror reports.

Mr Johnson has recently been growing another steady stream of income by making speeches all over the world. He is now understood to have exchanged contracts on his new countryside home, a Grade II-listed detached manor house.

The 400-year-old property in Oxfordshire is set in nearly five acres of land - with the original advert inviting offers "in excess of £4million".

he stunning country pile has its own walled garden, moat and a tennis court. As well as this, it was described as having “period features” with “ornate cornicing” and “open fireplaces”.

The new home is understood to be located in a village is close to Johnson’s previous constituency of Henley, for which he served as MP between 2001 and 2008.

In terms of travel to and from Johnson's constituency in Uxbridge and Ruislip South, it would take little over an hour to drive from Oxfordshire, which shouldn't pose any problem.

This move comes shortly after Johnson was seen being shown around a private school in Oxfordshire, with a view to sending his son Wilf there as a day pupil in September 2024, followed by his daughter Romy.

His four children with his ex-wife Marina Wheeler, a barrister, all attended state primary schools in north London.
