Seven gang members have been sentenced to a total of 146 years in prison for fatally stabbing a 16-year-old boy in a Moston, Greater Manchester Police has said.
Members of the public came to his aid but the 16-year-old boy died at the scene
Alexander "John" Soyoye, 16, was attacked by a group of 13 males with bats and other weapons before he was fatally stabbed by the gang who filmed the incident.
The seven males aged between 16 and 23 have received sentences between 16 and 24 years and were found guilty of murder and violent disorder.
Gareth Davies, Detective Chief Inspector at GMP's major incident team, said: "This was a horrific, violent and senseless assault that cost a young boy his life.
"No family or parent should ever have to receive the news from police that their son or daughter has been brutally murdered in the street."
"Knives ruin lives - not only for the families impacted by knife crime but also for those who carry them," he added.
The group walked along Moston Lane in the direction of Kenyon Lane, Moston, on 5 November, 2020. They pulled out weapons as they reached the junction and ran at another group where Mr Soyoye was, Manchester Crown Court heard.

One of the gang members, Brent Tchipenda, fought with Mr Soyoye, who along with his group had attempted to flee when they realised he had been injured.
The larger group pursed them on foot towards Birchenall Street, and when Mr Soyoye became isolated as he slowed due to his injuries he was attacked again.
He fell to the ground, where he was surrounded by nine of the males and subjected to a violent attack as they continually struck, stabbed, slashed and kicked him, while the whole assault was filmed by one of the group.

Mohammed Al-Jaf, 21, of Manchester, was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter and violent disorder and will be sentenced at a later date.
The phones of the five males were seized and a video was found of two of the attackers bragging about the murder.
Drill lyrics were also found which referenced the death of 'MD' - a nickname used by the victim.
Five other suspects are still wanted for questioning and are believed to have left the UK shortly after the murder.
