Prince Charles 'tells Prince Andrew to stay out of Windsor' amid civil trial

Prince Charles has allegedly told brother Andrew to "stay out of Windsor" amid his ongoing trial, it has been claimed.

The future King, 73, has reportedly told his younger brother, 61, to stay “out of the line of sight” and could eventually lead to the Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson having to move out of Royal Lodge in the Windsor grounds.

Charles is reportedly concerned about the Duke keeping a low profile as he approaches the date of his deposition in his civil trial against Virginia Giuffre next month.

A source reportedly told The Sun: "Charles wants Andrew out of the line of sight and out of the picture.

"He has been warned to keep his head down. Charles does not want Andrew to be photographed every other day looking happy and waving as he is driven to the castle.

"Eventually Andrew will be made to leave Windsor and could get several million pounds from the Royal Family. But he has made it clear that he will hang on for dear life."

When approached by OK! , a spokesperson for Prince Charles declined to comment on the claims.

A representative for Prince Andrew is yet to respond to a request for comment.

The Duke of York is expected to attend the ceremony for his late father Prince Philip at Westminster Abbey on 29 March, days after he is due to give his witness statement to US lawyers in his ongoing sexual assault case.

Andrew was unsuccessful in an attempt to stop the case being brought to court earlier this year, on the basis of a financial settlement his accuser Virginia Roberts previously signed with Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre, now 38, claims she was trafficked by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to have sex with the Duke of York in London in 2001 when she was 17.

She also alleges that she was forced to have sex with the 62 year old at Epstein’s home in New York and the US Virgin Islands.

Prince Andrew has continually denied all the allegations.

He is due to make his deposition in the Giuffre case on 10 March, after which he could stand trial as a private citizen in autumn, or settle out of court.

Following news of the trial's confirmation, Buckingham Palace released a statement on Thursday, 13 January.

It read: “With the Queen’s approval and agreement, The Duke of York’s military affiliations and royal patronages have been returned to the Queen."

“He will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen”, the statement concluded.
