Prince Andrew 'loses home at Buckingham Palace as office closed and staff moved'
Prince Andrew has reportedly lost his apartments and offices at Buckingham Palace as the 775-room residence is undergoing a £369million, ten-year rebuilding project which includes gutting and renovating Andrew’s suite, known as the Chamber Floor.
It has been said that King Charles has made it clear that his brother is no longer welcome to stay at the Palace and if he wishes to stay in London he can do so at another royal residence - thought to be nearby St James's Palace. Andrew still has his 31-room mansion Royal Lodge in Windsor which he shares with ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York.
The news comes after it was revealed the Duke of York is still hopeful that his reputation will be restored as he has allegedly contacted lawyers who have information that "will change people’s perceptions of him".
A source told The Sun: “The King has made it clear that Buckingham Palace is no place for Prince Andrew. First his office closed last year and now his sleeping quarters.
"Andrew loved having a suite at Buckingham Palace where he was not only set up for marital life with Sarah Ferguson but used it as a bachelor’s pad after his divorce.
"He brought back a string of new girlfriends to his home in the Palace — even model Caprice. A bachelor’s flat in St James’s Palace doesn’t have the same allure for a single man.”
It was recently revealed that Prince Andrew is still hopeful that his reputation will be restored following his involvement with paedophile Jeffery Epstein and subsequent allegations of sexual assault which were settled out of court almost a year ago.
The Daily Mail reported that the Duke of York has been assuring friends there is about to be a development which will restore his reputation. A source told the publication: "He says that details are about to be made public which will change people’s perceptions of him. He says that it will happen next month."
While there are no further details given, the Mail on Sunday recently revealed Andrew is expected to launch a bid to overturn the multi-million-pound settlement with Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused him of sexual assault. He was reported to have consulted lawyers in an attempt to get Giuffre to retract her allegations and possibly secure an apology.
