A woman who threw a milkshake at Nigel Farage has been charged with assault by beating and criminal damage.

The incident made headlines on Tuesday when Victoria Thomas Bowen threw the drink at Marine Parade East, Clacton while the Reform leader was on the election campaign trail.

The 25-year-old will appear at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 2, reports the Mirror.

Essex Police also confirmed that a 44-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker has been released and will face no further action.

"Could not be more proud of you," a friend had written over the photo, adding the clown and milkshake emojis. Victoria has found herself at the centre of consternation after photos of her milkshake arcing through the air towards Mr Farage went viral. "He doesn't stand for me, he doesn't represent anything I believe in, or any of the people around here," she was heard telling media.
